Yes, I have already started my toy shopping for Christmas. Have to, with this economy it helps to start early and accumulate items over time. Wooden Boats for Boys (and Girls!)

I really love simple, hand made toys. Especially when they're made of wood. They just seem better some how. Lets our kids use their imaginations more (which is lost today on many of the gadgets with all those bells and whistles.)

Not saying that I don't love toys that have it all, it's just that these boats seem to pack a lot of fun into a little space. Here's an elephant print sailboat (comes in prints for boys and girls) Just $12 but sure to offer days and months of enjoyment.

Hand carved wooden puzzles & toys

These make great gifts! I think they'd be fun for the little ones to paint too, with the puzzles on sale for just $6, it'll make a great project for winter break!

Firestation

John got this firestation from Santa last Christmas and both he and Anna love to play with it still. I have it set up on their play table and they sit and play and have fun using their imagination. Something has to be said for toys that allow the children to do the interaction.
